Robert W. Cassidy, Sr., 93, of West Haven entered into rest on February 12, 2018. He was the husband of the late Delores Hagerty Cassidy. Bob leaves a large and loving family including three children Robert W. (Karen) Cassidy Jr., Donna C. (Tom) Stash and Liane Cassidy, seven grandchildren Lauren (Zachary) Watson, Caitlin (Andrew) Stringer, Brianne (Anthony) Papa, Barrett (Robin) Cassidy, Robert W. Cassidy III, Christopher (Samantha) Cassidy, Brittany (Derek) Strasheim and eighteen great grandchildren. His parents James and Helen Schmidt Cassidy predeceased him as well as his siblings Hedwig Degnall, Joan Degnall and James Cassidy.
A Navy veteran of WWII, Bob commanded an L.C.V.P. landing craft bringing the troops to the shore of Omaha Beach. He enjoyed watching all sports, played high school basketball, loved a good bocce game at the family picnics and played in several bowling leagues. Other favorite pastimes include traveling with his late wife and dancing whenever they had the opportunity.
Visitation will take place on MONDAY from 4 to 7 pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the green. On Tuesday morning, please meet at the funeral home at 10 am or directly at All Saints Cemetery for a graveside service, with military honors, at 11 am.
