John H. DeGray Jr. died January 30, 2018 at the age of 93. He died peacefully under care of hospice and the wonderful staff at The Atrium at Rocky Hill. Born July 6, 1924 in West Haven he resided in Milford until the final year of his life. Upon return from Navy service in WWII John married his high school sweetheart, the late Audrey Jervis DeGray. They were married for 39 years. John worked for UMC Electronics of North Haven for 40 years before retiring in 1989. In his retirement John devoted much of his time and talent to supporting the midget car racing community in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts where he found great camaraderie with many new and old friends.
John is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John & June DeGray of Wethersfield, CT and his son and daughter-in-law, Clifford & Sandy DeGray of Arlington, VA. He was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Lauren DeGray Thompson (Jay) of Warren, RI, Joseph J. DeGray (Siobhan) of Hebron, CT and John T. DeGray of NYC as well as 4 great grandchildren. We love you Pop-Pop.
