Eunice Berre DeGennaro, of Orange, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017. She was the wife of the late Laurence Michael DeGennaro. Born in West Haven, July 17, 1929, she was the daughter of John and Ruth Scranton Berre. She graduated from West Haven High School and was a long-time parishioner of the West Haven Congregational Church. Prior to marriage, Eunice worked at Berger Bros. and the telephone company. The job that Eunice loved most was that of full time Mom. She treasured her children and lived for the holidays spent with them. She was known for having the Christmas presents bought and wrapped by Halloween and the Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving! She enjoyed trips to the shores of Cape Cod and Maine. She loved nothing more than going in the ocean, no matter how cold it was. The door to her home was always open and even though she had 4 children there could be double that number for dinner. Throughout the years she raised numerous pets including her beloved cats Snookie and Norman. Her dream was to hit lotto and open an animal shelter. She subscribed to the idea that growing up was optional, and loved pop culture. Her favorite music was by Air Supply, Abba, and Adam Levine.
She is the mother of Laurence (Colleen) DeGennaro, Martin (Christine) DeGennaro, Deanna (David) Friedman and John DeGennaro. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Tiffany, Brittany, Lauren, Amanda and Samantha; as well as Mia, her great granddaughter.
Services will be held on THURSDAY DECEMBER 28 at 11 o’clock at WEST HAVEN FUNERAL HOME The family would like to thank Connecticut Hospice, and requests that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to this fine organization.
