Obituary for Lena Tranquilli (Gambaccini)

Lena Gambaccini Tranquilli, age 89, of West Haven passed away peacefully on Thursday August 3, 2017 surrounded by her family at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She was the devoted wife of the late Annio Carl Tranquilli for 64 years. Lena was born on January 9, 1928 and grew up in New Haven. She worked as a seamstress and was a longtime member of the ILGWU, appearing in the TV commercial “Look for the Union Label”. Since 1954 she was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church and was a member of the West Haven Senior Center. She is survived by her three sons Andrew (Rosemary) Tranquilli, John (Sandra) Tranquilli, David (Cynthia) Tranquilli, her grandchildren Anne Marie Tranquilli-Bausher, John Tranquilli Jr., Cara Tranquilli, her great grandchildren Lilah, Hallie Lena and Connor and her brother Louis Gambaccini.
The hours for visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 6pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home Monday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Lawrence Church. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the West Haven Senior Center, 201 Noble Street, West Haven, CT. 06516.
