Obituary for Laura M. Juliano (Anastasio)

Laura M. Juliano (Anastasio)
Laura M. Juliano died peacefully on her 97th birthday October 25, 2016 of natural causes. Mrs. Juliano was born on October 25, 1919, in East Haven, Connecticut and was a life-long resident of the greater New Haven area.

She is predeceased by her husband, Frank Juliano, Sr., father James Anastasio and his wife Marguerite Gagliardi Anastasio, mother Rose Casolino Anastasio, sister Mary Anastasio and brother James Anastasio.

Mrs. Juliano was a 1937 graduate of Commercial High School. After high school, she was employed by C.S. Mersick and Company of New Haven. She also worked in her family’s New Haven restaurants, the Sterling Restaurant and the J.A. Restaurant. At home she was a loving wife and mother and a fabulous cook. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting, baking and gardening. Her gardens were magnificent. She was blessed with a lifetime of good health, close friends and a devoted family.

sister Charlotte Anastasio of East Haven, brother Thomas Anastasio of New Haven and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to recognize with gratitude Fernanda Brito for her many years of love and care, without which Mrs. Juliano’s 95 years of independent living would not have been possible. This is a gift that cannot be repaid. The family would also like to thank the staff of Whitney Manor in Hamden and Seasons Hospice in Middlebury for their care and compassion in her final months and days.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Friends and family are asked to go directly to Holy Infant Church on Friday morning for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
