Laurence “Larry” McGowan, age 62, passed away on November 23, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Laurence was born in Scotland and lived in West Haven for most of his life. He is the son of the late Andy and Fay McGowan. He is predeceased by his wife, Fran McGowan. He is survived by daughter Lauren McGowan of WA, son Daniel McGowan of RI, son-in-law Michael Kelly of WA, Egri Family of Hamden, brother Andrew McGowan of CA, and brother-in-law Peter Ploga of New Milford. He is also survived by nieces Brooke McGowan, Margaret MarQuez, Katherine Moore, Olivia Moore, Allyson Moore and Hailey Ploga and numerous friends and family in Scotland, Canada, and throughout the United States. Laurence graduated from West Haven High School in 1974 and served in the U.S. Air Force before working at Guilford Gravure, Harty Press, West Haven Veterans Health Administration, and numerous restaurants and bars in the area. Laurence brought love, laughter, and joy to every room he entered and will deeply missed. A Celebration-of-Life will be held at 2PM on Saturday December 8, 2018 at the West Haven Italian American Club, all are welcome. Memorial donations may be made to The West Haven Council On The Arts.
