Joseph F. Consorte Sr., age 84, of West Haven passed away on October 2, 2018. For the past 62 years, he was the loving husband of Dolores Bango Consorte. Joseph was born in New Haven, son of the late Matteo and Antoinette Pomarico Consorte. He is also survived by his children
Paul Consorte of West Haven, Joseph Consorte Jr. and wife Elizabeth of West Haven, Christopher Consorte and wife Lisa of North Haven, Mark Consorte and wife Carla of West Haven, his grandchildren, Carrolline, Julia, Joseph III, Michael, Matthew, Theresa and Christopher, his brother Frank Consorte and wife Maria and his sister-in-law Anna Consorte. He was predeceased by his brother Louis Consorte.

Together with his parents and brothers, Joe co-owned and operated West End Market until its closing. Joseph was very active in and was one of the founders of the West Shore Athletic League and the Ray Tellier Midget Football League. He was a longtime member of the Twilight League, a commissioner of Quigley Stadium, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Italian American Club and the Elks Lodge #1537. He was awarded the Italian Person of the Year in 2013 by the City of West Haven. Joe enjoyed many family vacations to Martha’s Vineyard and watching his grandchildren playing sports. He was a lifelong avid fan of the Brooklyn and LA Dodgers.

The hours for visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-7pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Lawrence Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock on Friday. Entombment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
