James Joseph Forte Jr., age 84 of West Haven passed away with his daughter by his side on August 4, 2018 at Connecticut Hospice. He was the husband of the late Patricia Acampora Forte. Father of Jamie Forte of West Haven. Brother of the late Robert “Ronnie” Forte. Brother in law of Barbara Acampora of West Haven, Maureen (Reenie) Forte and the late Alphonse and Michael Acampora. He was predeceased by his cousins Andrew and Donald DePoto who were like his brothers growing up, his Uncle Tony (the Bean) who he idolized as a second father and his special aunt Selma Thomas with whom he had a special bond. Born in New Haven, April 10, 1934, a son of the late James J. Forte Sr. and Adele Thomas Forte, he served his country in the United States Air Force. Jim worked as a mail handler for the U. S. Postal Service for over 50 years, retiring in October of 2009. He was a member of the Italian American Club, Allingtown and Savin Rock Seniors. An avid bowler he was a member of the Ray Pompano Memorial Bowling League, Circle Lanes League in East Haven and Cherry Hill League in Branford.
Visitation will take place on Sunday August 12th from 4 to 6pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held on Monday at 1pm in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
