Obituary for Hilda Young (Rosario)

Hilda Young, age 92, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on July 28, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late William G. “Bill” Young. Hilda was born in Chicopee, MA, daughter of the late Belmindo and Adeline Simoes Rosario. She is survived by her loving children, Lorraine (Jeff Horowitz) Esposito of Hamden, Linda (Peter) Buccieri of West Haven, April (Anthony Candela) Vacco of Wallingford and Michael (Lisa Palmer) Hagerty of CO, her cherished grandchildren, Richard (Kara) Burgarella, Kimberly Rapuano, David Parkin, Robert (Bryan Poisson) Parkin, Ralph (Lucille) Esposito, Claudia (Raymond) Liberatore and Matthew Vacco, and her beloved 7 great grandchildren. Hilda was predeceased by her sister Mary Pereira, her brother Frank Rosario and her great grandson Anthony Rapuano. Prior to her retirement, she worked in Food Services for 25 years at the University of New Haven. Hilda loved to play cards, bingo, when she was younger bowling, dancing, camping with her husband in Clinton. She was also fascinated with birds. Hilda was a great cook and loved to go to Wooster St. for dinner. Hilda found comfort in her faith and love for God. The family would like to thank the staff at Whitney Center, especially Stephanie Zilinski for all her efforts to get Hilda involved with activities.
The hours for visitation will be Friday from 4-8pm at the West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence Church at 10am. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
